VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State plays at home in Gulf South Conference play for the fourth straight weekend as the Blazers host West Alabama at Billy Grant Field Saturday and Sunday.

VSU opened conference game with a three-game series at Shorter, but have played at home in each of its last eight conference games. Overall, Valdosta State has 15 of its 20 games at home this year and has tallied a 12-3 record in those games.

On the season, Valdosta State has registered a 13-7 record, including a 7-4 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Blazers are the GSC's top offensive team as they bat .349 as a team and average 9.2 runs per game. VSU leads the GSC in doubles with 52, home runs with 22 and in slugging percentage at .529. Meanwhile, the VSU pitching staff surrenders 5.5 runs a game and allows opponents to bat .258. The team owns a 5.01 earned run average on the season.

Three Blazers currently bat over .400, led by Hayden Jones at .440. Meanwhile, Kevin Cruz, who leads the GSC with 12 doubles on the season, bats .427 while Bryant Hayman bats .403 and leads the conference with six home runs.

West Alabama enters the weekend with a 12-8 record, including a 6-5 mark in conference play. The Tigers bat .272 as a team and score 5.8 runs per game while allowing foes to bat .252 and score 4.6 runs a contest.

The series begins with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday followed by a single game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
