VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's basketball team extended their perfect start to three games after an impressive 83-37 victory over the Trinity Baptist Eagles on Saturday evening at The Complex.
Valdosta State (3-0) jumped out to an early lead within the first two minutes of the first quarter on a layup by
Lydia Harvey and never looked back, as the squad spread their advantage steadily throughout the remainder of the night.
Turnovers plagued the Eagles throughout, and the Blazers took full advantage of the opportunities to turn those 21 turnovers into 34 points. The Blazers outmatched Trinity across the board, including in the rebounding column, where VSU hauled in 56 rebounds against Trinity's 32.
The Blazers top offensive effort came from
Sunshine Walton, a freshman out of Warner Robins, Ga. who made the most of her first opportunity this season with 14 points and six rebounds on the night.
Valdosta State enjoyed an offensive outpouring that included points from each of the 13 Lady Blazers that entered the game. Behind Walton's double-digit scoring effort, Both
