Next Up for Blazer Soccer: GSC Tournament

Valdosta State will travel to Pensacola, Fla. this week to begin their push for a GSC Championship Title.

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Following Tuesday night's quarterfinal action in the Gulf South Conference women's soccer tournament, the stage is now set for the final two rounds in Pensacola, Fla.. For the Valdosta State soccer team, the pursuit of the squad's first ever GSC Title starts with a semifinal match against the West Florida Argonauts at 2:30 p.m. EST on Friday, November 7.

After their thrilling win over West Alabama on Sunday, the Blazers were afforded the opportunity to sit back and wait along with top-ranked North Alabama, as the remaining four teams battled it out on Tuesday night in an effort to survive the opening round of the postseason. No. 4 West Alabama cruised to a 2-0 victory in Livingston, Ala. to defeat No. 5 ranked Christian Brothers, while the No. 3 Argonauts survived a scare from the No. 3 Hawks of Shorter with a 1-0 win.

The final two rounds of competition, which are all scheduled to take place at Ashton Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla.,  begin on Friday with an opening matchup that will feature North Alabama and West Alabama at noon EST. If the Blazers defeat the Argonauts in the match to follow, VSU will earn a spot in the GSC Championship match for the first time since the program's inaugural year in 2011. The final is set to take place on Sunday at noon.

Friday's match against West Florida presents an opportunity for the Blazers to seek revenge after suffering a tough 2-1 loss to the Argonauts less than one week ago in the second to last match of the regular season.
