Memphis, Tenn. - The Valdosta State volleyball team's Gulf South Conference eight-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday afternoon, as the Blazers suffered a 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-18) loss to the Christian Brothers Lady Bucs in Memphis, Tenn..
The loss dropped the Blazers to 16-7 overall and knocked the Blazers out of a second place tie with West Florida in the GSC. Valdosta State's league record fell to 11-4 in league play, while the Lady Bucs improved to 13-12 overall and 10-6 against GSC opponents.

Nicole Higgins performed well for the Blazers and posted .500 and .304 hitting percentages, respectively. But a .152 overall effort was not enough to overcome 42 kills and only 14 errors committed by the Lady Bucs on the afternoon.
Christian Brothers saw an impressive outing by Brinsley Cooper, who connected for 11 kills and zero mistakes en route to a .440 hitting percentage in the match. In addition, the Lady Bucs put together a strong defensive outing at the net with 18 block assists and two solo blocks.
The Blazers will shoot for the start of a new winning streak when they return to action in Valdosta on October 31 to host the North Alabama Lions at 6:00 p.m. for another GSC matchup.
