Caitlyn Calhoun

Caitlyn Calhoun is entering her 2nd season with the Lady Blazers as a Graduate Assistant Coach. Calhoun served as a 4-year pitcher and goes down as one of the best to touch the rubber at Valdosta State. Making 2 consecuative NCAA Division II National Championship appearances, Calhoun brings her knowledge and grit to the Lady Blazer pitching staff. She posted one of the most outstanding single-season pitching efforts in the history of Valdosta State softball in her junior campaign, where she led the nation in shutouts with 19. Calhoun racked up 14 no-hitters for a new single-season Gulf South Conference record. She also posted a 28-5 record and a nationally recognized 1.33 ERA as a junior. 

In her senior season, Calhoun was recognized to represent the GSC Top Ten, an award given to the best student-athletes in the Gulf South Conference each year by the commissioner. Calhoun, who practically rewrote the VSU record books, posted 6 career no-hitters 33 career shutouts, and 574 career strikeouts.  
 
Her accolades include a two-time All-America recognition, two-time first-team All-South Region, two-time First Team All-GSC, 14-time GSC Pitcher of the Week, and GSC Pitcher of the Year in her senior season for the red and black. Academically, Calhoun is a 4-time GSC All-Academic scholar athlete, posting above a 3.5 GPA in the classroom. 

Calhoun, a Hamilton Ohio native, is working on her masters degree in early childhood education and received her undergraduate degree in early childhood special education in 2016 from Valdosta State Universirty. Â
