Rob McElhaney begins his second year at Valdosta State and first as Assistant Defensive Line Coach/Special Teams. McElhaney was Offensive and Special Teams assistant in 2021 as he helped lead VSU to a 12-2 record overall, the program's third-straight Gulf South Conference title and a national runner-up finish.
Prior to Valdosta State, McElhaney was the Defensive Lien Coach/Academic Coordinator at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. There he led the team to break the team honor roll with 49 players (50.5% of active roster) with over a 3.0 GPA. Before Saint Vincent, McElhaney was a student assistant at Slippery Rock from 2016-2019, prior to becoing the head student assistant at SLU from 2019-2020. He was an offensive lien assistant, film coordinator and offensive quality control coordinator.
McElhaney helped coach SLU to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Confenrece title and two appearances in the NCAA playoffs, including one semifinal appearance. McElhaney was on staff when former Blazer Rolan Rivers won the Harlon Hill Award.
