Bowie

Rick Bowie

In Bowie’s first year at Valdosta State as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, the offense averaged 476 yards per game (5th nationally), 6.9 Yards per play (5th nationally), and averaged 36.6 points per game (12th nationally). They were also the only team in Division II to be top 25 nationally in both rushing in passing.

Bowie arrived in Titletown in January of 2022, from the University of Houston where he had been an offensive assistant since February of 2019 on former Blazer assistant coach Dana Holgorsen’s staff.  In 2021, Bowie helped lead Houston to a 12-2 record, an 8-0 mark in the American Conference and a 17-13 Birmingham Bowl victory over Auburn University.

Prior to Houston, Bowie spent one season with Holgorsen at West Virginia University where he worked with the wide receivers as a graduate assistant under Offensive Coordinator Jake Spavital.  He also aided in game planning, scout team preparation, and on-campus recruiting.

Bowie spent two seasons before WVU at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Md., where he served as Co-Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks/tight ends coach and director of admissions and enrollment.  He received his coaching start as a football coaching intern at Florida International University in the summer of 2011, before becoming the tight ends and quarterbacks coach for four seasons at Gilman School in Baltimore.
