Matthew Giampa

PRIOR TO VALDOSTA STATE: Matthew Giampa was elevated to Offensive Coordinator prior to the 2021 season at Alvernia. 

Prior to the 2019 season, Giampa was named the Offensive Line Coach/Tight End Coach at Alvernia. During this season, Alvernia led the Middle Atlantic conference in rushing yards per game, while running back Malcolm Carey was a second straight 1st Team All-Conference selection.

Matthew Giampa joined the Alvernia University Football staff in the spring of 2018, the 1st season of football in the history of Alvernia University, as the Special Teams Coordinator and Running Backs coach. Special Teams under Coach Giampa performed at a high level for the new program, with 3 major categories ranking in the top 4 of the conference (Net Punt, Kickoff Return Yards Allowed, and Punt Return Average). RB Malcolm Carey was also selected as a 1st team All-Conference RB, after leading the conference in rushing.


Prior to joining Alvernia University, Giampa was a member of the Villanova University coaching staff, where he served as the Special teams quality control coach and defensive assistant. Giampa was a large part of Villanova's top rated defense. Villanova Special Teams were top 3 in the conference with all conference selections at Punter and returner. 

 Prior to his time with Villanova, Giampa was the Defensive assistant and Director of Operations for the Ursinus College Football program.

Giampa is a 2016 graduate of Temple University where he received a degree in Sport and Recreation Management and served as a Student coaching assistant for Temple University Football. In addition, Giampa received his Master's in Business Administration from Alvernia University in 2019.
