Bryson Abraham comes to Valdosta State from Jackson State where he has been the wide receivers coach since 2023.  Last season, Abraham was the wide receivers coach for the Tigers helping lead the team to a 7-4 record overall and a 5-3 mark in the SWAC.  In 2023, Abraham coached the wide receivers where the team finished second in the SWAC in passing offense at 227.6 yards per game for 40th nationally.  The Tigers finished first in the SWAC in total offense at 389.5 yards per game for 32nd nationally in FCS.  Abraham coached Fabian McCray who finished third in the SWAC in receiving yards (584) and fifth in receiving yards per game at 53.1, while he averaged 3.7 receptions per game for fifth in the league.  

Prior to Jackson State, Abraham spent three seasons at Texas State where he coached Ashytn Hawkins who earned Second Team All-Sun Belt honors 2022 as he posted four 100-yard receiving games in nine contests and set the school-record for receptions in a game with 13 at Baylor.  Marcell Barbee earned Third Team All-Sun Belt honors in 2022 and he was second in the SBC with ten touchdown catches and led the team with 40 catches for 584 yards.  First-Team All-America return specialist Jeremiah Haydel caught 40 passes for 408 yards and four touchdowns. Haydel ranked third nationally and led the Sun Belt Conference in combined kick return yards with 687 yards and was one of only two NCAA Division I FBS players to return a kickoff and punt for a touchdown.  Javen Banks had 16 catches for 299 yards and four touchdowns, while Trevis Graham, Jr. caught 24 passes for 271 yards and two TDs.

Abraham came to Texas State after two years as wide receivers coach at Presbyterian where he produced a pair of All-Big South wide receivers who set a school record and ranked among the top two receivers in the Big South each season.  Keith Pearson earned Second-Team All-Big South honors after leading the Big South with 71 receptions for 777 yards and three touchdowns. His 71 receptions set a Presbyterian single-season record, and his 777 receiving yards were the second-highest Division I total at the school. Pearson also became the school’s eighth Division I player to record 100 career receptions and the seventh DI player to eclipse 1,000 career receiving yards.  In his first season, Abraham had two receivers tie for second among Big South leaders with 52 receptions. DaShawn Davis recorded 557 receiving yards and led the Blue Hose with seven touchdown receptions. Pearson had 565 receiving yards and two TD receptions.

He coached cornerbacks at Ruston High School in Ruston, La., in 2017 and began his coaching career as a graduate assistant defensive coach at Louisiana Tech after taking part in a 2016 minicamp with the Detroit Lions.  

As a student-athete at Louisiana Tech, Abraham was a Second-Team All-Conference USA and Second-Team All-Louisiana selection as a defensive back at Louisiana Tech in 2015. He led the nation with four defensive touchdowns and three interceptions returned for touchdowns.

Abraham collected 156 tackles, including 113 solo, eight interceptions, 22 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked kick throughout his career.  He played on two Bulldog teams that won the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl in 2014 and the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl in 2015. He also played in the 2011 Poinsettia Bowl.

A native of Jennings, La., Abraham graduated from Louisiana Tech in 2014 with a degree in Psychology. He has a son, Kayson.
