Brice Carlson came to Valdosta State in the spring of 2024 after serving as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator for West Georgia since February 2022.

In his first season at UWG, Carlson coached a unit that ranked fourth in the country in sacks allowed per game and seventh in the country in tackles for loss allowed. The offensive line paved the way for the Wolves to claim an NCAA Statistical Champion honor in total offense, leading all of Division II with 506.9 yards of total offense per game. Additionally, behind the Wolves' line in 2022, Jaxton Carson was able to set a single-season rushing touchdown record with 20 and eclipse the 1,000 yard mark.

In 2023, Carlson coached an offensive line that was third in the GSC in sacks allowed a 1.30 for 33rd nationally and second in the league at just 4.70 tackles for loss allowed for 22nd nationally.  UWG averaged 369.5 yards per game Offensively and finished third in the GSC in rushing yards per game at 187.6 for 29th nationally.

Carlson and the Wolves saw two offensive lineman, David Bodden and Kyree Jones, earn All-GSC honors in 2022 with Bodden adding an All-Region honor to his sophomore season.  In 2023, Bodden earned first team all-region honors and running back Rajaez Mosley earned second team honors. Bodden, along with Marvin Jones, Mosley and quarterback Cameran Brown all earned All-GSC honors.

No stranger to West Georgia, Carlson returned to Carrollton is his second stop at UWG. He spent the 2015 season as the offensive line coach for the GSC Champion and NCAA Super Region 2 Champion team. During that 2015 season, Carlson coached an OL unit that averaged 220 rushing yards per game and tied a school record with 34 touchdowns on the ground. He also coached former UWG standouts Orion Awa-Dubose and Dominique Robertson.

Between his stints in Carrollton, Carlson has had stops at West Virginia State, Southwest Baptist, Malone, Lindenwood, and most recently Mississippi Valley State. Carlson also gained experience in the GSC, spending 2013 and 2014 as the assistant offensive line coach at rival Delta State.

Carlson graduated from Guilford College (N.C.) in May of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and a minor in Education. During his time as a player at Guilford College, Carlson started 30 consecutive games on the offensive line with many of them at center. He went on to earn his Master's of Science in Human Performance with a concentration in Sports Administration from Delta State University in 2015.
