Biography

CAREER: Wells is 28-3 as a starting quarterback for the Blazers and helped lead the Blazers to a league-record 25-game winning streak from the final game of 2017 until the final game of 2019.  He has played in 34 games with 31 starts for his career as he is eighth all-time in school history in rushing yards (1,932), fifth in rushing touchdowns (25), sixth in career completions (543), third in passing touchdowns (69) and second all-time in school history in total offense with 9,026 yards.  In the GSC, he is tied for eighth in passing touchdowns and ninth in total offense.  He has thrown for 7,130 yards and his 69 touchdown passes are good for seventh in GSC history on 543 of 878 passing for a 61.8 percent completion percentage.  

IN 2019 AS A REDSHIRT JUNIOR: Named GSC Player of the Decade and First Team GSC All-Decade ... Named a Harlon Hill Award finalist for the second-straight year and earned multiple All-America honors ... Named GSC Player of the Year for the second-straight season and D2CCA Super Region Two Player of the Year ... Named GSC Player of the Week three times ... Finished the season going 213 of 297 passing with 19 touchdowns and four interceptions for 2,650 yards ... He rushed 85 times for 702 yards and scored six touchdowns on the ground, while catching two passes for ten yards and one receiving touchdown ... Wells finished third nationally in completion percentage (.717) and 19th in completions per game at 19.4 as both led the GSC ... He was tenth nationally in passing efficiency (165.1) to lead the conference, while he was 41st nationally and second in the league in passing touchdowns (19) and 23rd nationally and second in the league in passing yards (2,650) ... His 240.9 average per game was good for 25th nationally and second in the league ... Wells was 33rd nationally and second in the league in points responsible for (156) and an average of 14.2 per game for 35th nationally and second in the league ... He was second in the GSC in rushing yards with 702, while he was ninth nationally in total offense at 304.7 yards per game and 13th nationally in yards per pass attempt at 8.92 for first in the GSC ... Wells helped the Blazers to second nationally in 3rd down conversion at .528, 20th nationally in scoring offense (38.9), 11th in rushing offense (260.2) and 3rd nationally in total offense at 522.1 yards per game. 

IN 2018 AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE: Had a breakout season under center for the Blazers leading the team to the national championship ... Named Harlon Hill Award Runner-Up in 2018 ... Named MVP of the National Championship game as he thew five passing touchdowns (tying championship game record) and broke the record as he also caught his first career touchdown pass in the game) ... Started all 14 games for the Blazers going 14-0 for the year ... Named D2CCA Super Region Two Offensive Player of the Year ... GSC Offensive Player of the Year and earned multiple All-America honors ... Named GSC Player of the Week five times ... Ran the offense for the nation's leading scoring team at 52.0 points per game ... Finished second on the team in rushing with 136 rushes for 732 yards and a team-high 11 rushing touchdowns ... Had one catch for 25 yards and a score in the national championship ... Went 209 of 364 in passing with 38 touchdowns to just four interceptions for the season ... Threw a career-high six touchdown passes at Mississippi College and ran for one in the game ... Had a career-high 364 yards passing against Delta State ... IN 2017 AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN: Played in all nine games with six starts ... Went 121 of 217 with 12 touchdowns and three interceptions for 1,405 yards ... Had 116 carries for 498 yards and eight touchdowns ... Recorded one assisted tackle against West Florida ... Had a season-high 233 yards passing at Delta State ... Tossed a season-high three touchdowns against Mississippi College ... Completed a season-high 18 passes at West Georgia ... Rushed for a season-high 91 yards on 16 carries against West Alabama ... Had a career-high four rushing touchdowns against Florida Tech and threw two more as he was responsible for six scores in the game ... Went 4-2 as a starter in his first playing season.
