VALDOSTA, Ga. - The polls are out and Valdosta State's very own Eimy Negron Domenech from women's volleyball has been named GSC defensive player of the week.
This honor marks the sixth GSC Defensive Player of the Week selection in Negron Domenech's career, earning five in the 2025 season prior and was named to the All-GSC Second Team.
Negron Domenech anchored the Blazers' defense throughout the Flagler Invitational this past weekend, helping Valdosta State finish the tournament 2-2. She totaled 121 digs in 15 sets, averaging an impressive 8.07 digs per set.
This libero opened the tournament with 24 digs in VSU's sweep against Lees-McRae before posting a weekend-high of 35 digs against Maryville (Mo). As the tournament went on to Saturday, she continued to stand out against their host Flagler, recording 34 digs and then another 28 in their final match of the tournament against Saint Leo.Â
With this past weekend's performance Negron Domenech is racking up the digs already, sitting at 169 digs which is already a third of her last season total digs of 505.
The Blazers will return home this week to host their Fall Tournament Sept. 10-12. Valdosta State enters the tournament with a 3-4 record following their 2-2 performance at the Flagler Invitational.Â
