Blazers Finish Strong at VSU Border Clash

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Despite weather delays and a rainy race, the Valdosta State cross country team hosted the VSU Border Clash finishing first overall on the men's side and second for the women.

Men's Team Results:

1st - Valdosta State
2nd - Flagler
3rd - ABAC
4th - Enterprise State CC
5th - LBW Community College
6th - Georgia Southwestern
7th - Andrew College

Women's Team Results:

1st - Flagler
2nd - Valdosta State
3rd - Central Florida
4th - Enterprise State CC
5th - Georgia Southwestern
6th - ABAC

For the men, returner Nick Waddell led the Blazers, running a new personal best time of 24:37.9 in the 7.25K and placed first overall with a well earned gap.

Following behind was a Blazer pack consisting of Liam LeBrocq, Jake Wilkerson, and Caleb Tilford. To round out that pack was freshman Parker Henderson making his Blazer debut with a final stretch push, beating Cole Swesey from Flagler by a second, running a time of 25:40.

Finishing up for the Blazers was Alex Albano in 21st place with a time of 28:29.

The Blazers' women's leader, Samantha Savinon-Rios, ran a time of 20:27.6 in the 5K. She placed second overall by just .2 of a second, having a last stretch sprint off with Vivian Brezler from Flagler.

Shortly behind was twins Ella Burnett and Emma Burnett. Ella crossed the line at 20:47.5, following behind was Emma with a time of 21:18.7.

Rounding out the Blazers was Ellie Cardozo in 26th place with a time of 24:43.2.
