MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Cross country took on the UM Falcon Classic late Friday night and are coming home with new personal bests across the board. As a team, the women finished fourth overall, while the men secured second place.

For the women, sophomore Samantha Savinon-Rios finished seventh overall with a new personal best time of 19:10.8. Juniors Ella Burnett and Emma Burnett were the next Blazers to cross the finish line, both achieving a new personal best and finishing 10th and 14th.

Alanta Lofton secured 31st place with a season best of 20:33.5. Carly Storie made her collegiate debut finishing fifth for the Blazers with a time of 22:27.0.

Rounding out the finishers, sophomore Alyssa Youmans with a season best time of 22:38.9 and junior Ellie Cardozo with a new personal best of 23:57.8. 

This was the men's season debut for the 8K. Running a 25:57.3, junior Nick Waddell led the Blazers once again. While he did not run a personal best, he placed third overall.

The same four Blazers from last week came in another pack, being just seconds away from one another. Leading the pack, James Wilkerson ran a time of 26:24.4 for ninth overall. Following Wilkerson by 2 seconds was Liam LeBrocq. Senior Caleb Tilford crossed the line next, running a personal best of 26:51.3. To round out the front pack was Parker Henderson in 13th place with a time of 26:59.4.

Hunter Shuler managed to secure a new personal best tonight by ten seconds, running a time of 28:48.0. Closing out the Blazers, freshman Alexander Albano (29:40.1) and senior Randall Luke (34:07.1).

Next up, the Blazers will continue on the road and compete at UAH Twilight meet on Sept. 25 in Huntsville, Ala.
