VALDOSTA, Ga. - The votes are in and VSU' very own Paola Aviles from women's volleyball has been named GSC Offensive Player of the Week.



The junior middle blocker led the Blazers to a 2-2 weekend at the VSU Fall Tournament, turning in a strong offensive performance. Aviles totaled 37 kills, eight blocks while hitting .292 on 89 attacks.

Opening up the tournament against Embry-Riddle, Aviles led the team with 18 kills on 36 attacks while also hitting .361. She also contributed four blocks and seven digs to the four set match.

In VSU's 3-0 sweep against Lander, middle blocker Aviles tallied nine kills and four blocks. As a team the Blazers posted a .228 hitting percentage while her personal was .364.

Aviles contributed a kill to Valdosta State's second sweep of the tournament against Paine College before having another nine kill game against Rollins. She recorded 30 attacks against the Tars and finished as the Blazers' leading offensive performer.

Through the early season, Paola has established herself as one of the Blazers' top offensive threats. This honor is her first GSC Offensive Player of the Week recognition.
