VALDOSTA, Ga. - The No.10 Blazers travel on the road to face Fayetteville State for their third game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. The kickoff time was moved up from its originally scheduled time of 6 p.m.

Last week, Valdosta State triumphed over the Warner Royals 59-10 at home.  

Quarterback Champ Harris continued to look solid, going 7-17 for 52 yards and rushing for 55 yards and a touchdown. Jameson Holcomb also saw time behind center, finishing 5-of-9 for 31 yards. Finally, true freshman Tyrieke Wade went 5-for-7 for 47 yards and his first career touchdown in the win. 

The running game continues to be strong for the Blazers. Chance Black rushed for 59 yards on three carries; highlighted by a 46-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. Solomon Locke and Kenai Grier both finished with three carries and 46 yards each, Grier scored a pair of touchdowns while Locke came away with one score. 

As a team, VSU ran for 275 yards on the ground. 
Defensively, the Blazers continue to cause havoc for opposing offenses. The Royals were kept to just 180 yards of offense, while forcing three turnovers and held to 2-15 on third downs. 
  
Scouting the Broncos 
Fayetteville State comes into this contest 2-0, with wins over Shaw and UNC-Pembroke 

In their 2025 campaign, the Broncos finished 6-4 overall with a 6-1 mark in the CIAA, placing third in conference. 

Their offense is led by redshirt-senior quarterback Jamir Dismukes. Through two games this season, he's completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns. He can also make plays with his legs, rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown.  

The rushing leader for the Broncos is Braydon Vinson, leading the team in rushing with 169 yards and a touchdown. Through the air, Dismukes main target has been Marcus Fleming, he's caught 10 passes for 171 yards. 
 
On defense, Jatavien Taylor is leading the team in tackles with 13. Osirus Rhodes is the man to watch in the trenches, as he leads the team in sacks with four. Finally, true freshman ZyKing Patillo has proven to be a factor in the secondary, holding the team lead in interceptions with three. 
 
In the two teams' only meeting, the Blazers dominated with a 34-0 victory back in 2024.
