PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Valdosta State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 16 West Alabama-Saturday in a neutral site, Gulf South Conference match in Pensacola, Fla.
The Blazers fell to 4-10 overall and 2-5 in GSC play and will battle Christian Brothers on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET to complete the league portion of the season. VSU then will return home to host Lynn in the regular season, Friday at 2 p.m. at the VSU Tennis Complex.
Against West Alabama, the Tigers took the early lead with wins at both Nos. 3 and 2 for the early 1-0 lead.
In singles, UWA took a 2-0 lead with a forfeit at No. 6, but freshman
Pietro Casciola won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 for the Blazers' lone win in the match.
Yohann Meunier took Fererico Iturbe to three sets with a 6-4 win the first set and a 6-3 loss in the second, before Iturbe won 6-1 in the third.
