PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Valdosta State men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at top-ranked West Florida Friday afternoon. The Blazers fell to 4-9 on the year and 2-4 in Gulf South Conference play.
UWF (19-1, 7-0 GSC) won the doubles point with a win from top-ranked duo of Sebastian Rondon and Diego Duran at the top spot in the lineup over
Emile Delporte and
Wilson Igbinovia, 6-3. With some players out, VSU had to forfeit the No. 3 spot, while the No. 2 doubles team of
Jerome Iaconi and
Yohann Meunier were tied 3-3 with Rafael Sabio and Goncalo Quintela when the point was clinched.
The Blazers trailed 3-0 with forfeits at Nos. 5-6 in singles, while UWF won in straight-sets at the top four positions for the 7-0 win. VSU returns to action on Saturday also in Pensacola versus No. 16 West Alabama at 3 p.m. ET and then on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET versus Christian Brothers.
