VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 24 Lee on Wednesday afternoon.
Lee (4-0, 3-0 GSC) won the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3, while Blazer top duo of
Philipp Bosse and
Pietro Casciola held a 5-3 lead at No. 1 doubles when the point was clinched. VSU fell to 1-3 on the year and 0-1 in league play.
In singles, the Flames took a 2-0 lead as Rytis Razminas won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 over
Emile Delporte, Bosse won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles over No. 41-ranked Quinn Groenendijk for a 2-1 score. Francisco Guimaraes won 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 over
Jerome Iaconi at No. 5 for a 3-1 lead and No. 12-ranked Filipe Krohn won 6-1, 7-5 over No. 27-ranked
Julien Doitteau at the top spot to clinch the match.
Stefan Mos of Lee won 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 4 over
Jan Thissen, while the No. 3 singles match already had started the third set before the match was clinched as Jip Langerhuizen won 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 over
Wilson Igbinovia for the 6-1 score.
The Blazers return to action on Sunday, traveling to Pensacola, Fla., for a neutral site match against Delta State at 3 p.m. ET.
