DADE CITY, Fla. – The Valdosta State men's golf team fired a 299 score for the final round of the 2026 Saint Leo Invitational on the par 72, 7,121-yard Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club Couse Tuesday to finish tied for 13
th of 17 teams. The Blazers finished with a 54-hole score of 871 for the tournament.
No. 4 Florida Southern held off a furious rally from No. 21 Saint Leo to win the tournament with a 25-under 839 score. Saint Leo finished second at 23-under 841, while No. 19 Nova Southeastern was third at 21-under 843. No. 37 Lynn finished fourth at 19-under 845, while No. 2 Lee rounded out the top five at 11-under 853.
Finishing sixth was No. 22 Barry with a 6-under 858 score, followed by Embry-Riddle (860), No. 23 Rollins (861), while Delta State and No. 40 Palm Beach Atlantic tied for ninth at 2-under 862. Carson-Newman was 11
th at 1-under 863. Trevecca Nazarene finished 12
th at 867, while VSU and No. 47 Tampa tied for 13
th at 871. No. 46 Eckerd finished 15
th with an 879 score, while Montevallo was 16
th (883) and Kentucky Wesleyan was 17
th at 911.
Individually, University of South Florida individual Nino Palmquist won the tournament finishing with a 14-under 202, including a final round 7-under 65. Florida Southern's Max Barile finished second at 11-under 205, followed by Nova Southeastern's Ivan Ponsdomenech at 10-under 206. Lynn's Simon Roessler and Delta State Ty Werynski finished tied for fourth at 9-under 207.
For the Blazers, junior
Alexander Nilehn continued his strong play this season finishing at 5-under 211 on rounds of 66, 70 and 75. Senior
Elad Sebbag finished tied for 57
th with a 220 score on rounds of 75, 71 and 74, while junior
Adam Waller and junior
William Carestam finished tied for 65
th each at a 222 score. Carestam carded rounds of 71, 72 and 79, while Waller fired scores of 74, 73 and 75. Senior
Joshua Burki finished tied for 74
th with a 224 score on rounds of 76, 73 and 75, while freshman
Kaleb Shiver playing as an individual, finished tied for 77
th with a 225 score on rounds of 75, 78 and 72.
VSU returns home to prepare for the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate, Mar. 9-10 at Kinderlou Forest Gulf Club in Valdosta.
