VALDOSTA, Ga. - Freshman Rebecca Souverain was named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week this week, the first weekly award of her young collegiate career.

The freshman made an impact off of the bench in both of last week's Lady Blazer wins. Souverain averaged 10.5 PPG and 6 RPG over the week, adding one block and one steal. 

Souverain posted a double-double on Saturday against Trevecca Nazarene in the strongest performance of her collegiate career. The Boyton Beach, Fla. native shot 7-of-12 from the field with 14 points and ten rebounds. She added one block and one steal as a part of a strong effort on defense in the win. She shot 100% from the field during Thursday's win over Lee with seven points, two rebounds, and one assist.
