VALDOSTA, Ga. – Coming off a pair of impressive victories last week, Valdosta State men's basketball coach Mike Helfer was named Week 12 National Coach o the Week by HoopDirt.com. 
 
Helfer, who won his 400^th game as head coach of the Blazers in dramatic fashion Saturday as the team trailed by ten with just over seven minutes to play to Trevecca Nazarene and came back to win in overtime, 113-104.  The team also won 79-73 over Lee last Thursday.  The Blazers improved to 14-8 overall and 9-7 in Gulf South Conference play. 
 
For his career, Helfer is 400-206 in his 21^st season at Valdosta State and he is 586-289 overall in 29 seasons of coaching. 
 
Helfer and the Blazers head to the Magnolia State to face Delta State on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET and then at Mississippi College on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.
