ALBANY, Ga. — Valdosta State shot a 7-over 295 in the final round Tuesday to finish 13th at 18 over par (594) at the Hurricane Invitational.
The Blazers improved by four strokes from the opening round's 299.
David Wagner led Valdosta State with a 1-under 71, the team's best round of the tournament. He made the turn at 35 with a birdie on the par-3 sixth and added a 36 on the back nine. His round was five strokes better than his opening 76, and he moved up 18 spots to tie for 33rd at three-over.
Alexander Nilehn was Valdosta State's top finisher, tied for 22nd at 1-over After opening with an even-par 72 to sit tied for 14th, he shot a 73 on the final day, including a 34 on the front nine, before a 39 on the back.
Adam Waller shot a 74, four strokes better than his opening 78, and finished tied for 62nd at 8-over. He had a 39 on the front, then played the back nine in 35, including a birdie on the par-3 16th.
William Carestam also finished tied for 62nd at 8-over after a 77, two strokes worse than his first-round 75. A triple-bogey on the eighth hole hurt him on the front nine, but he played the back in 36.
Jimmy Cohen followed his opening 76 with an 82 and tied for 76th at 14-over.
Competing as individuals, William Ekeroth shot a 77 to tie for 76th at 14 over, and Kaleb Shiver finished 81st at 27-over after an 87.
Valdosta State's counting scores Tuesday were Wagner's 71, Nilehn's 73, Waller's 74 and Carestam's 77.
