HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Valdosta State cross country team took on a wide competitive field at the UAH Chargers Invitational and several crossed the finish line with new personal or season best. The men came in 30th of the 40 teams present and the women took 36th out of 38 teams.

Starting off with the men's 8K, Nick Waddell continued to lead the Blazers through the finish line, coming in 187th with a time of 26:01.3. Shortly after, freshman Liam LeBrocq crossed the finish line in 217th with a new personal best of 26:13.8. 

As far as personal best, others such as Toshiya Bass, Hunter Shuler, Mason Brown and Nate Spivey all improved their 8K times on this course. Bass placed 318th with a time of 27:13.1 and closely behind was Shuler, crossing the :finish at 27:45.1. Brown followed, placing 381st with a time of 28:01.2 while Spivey rolled in at 28:43.5. 

The women's 6K followed afterwards starting off with Emma Burnett running a new personal best of 23:30.6, leading the Blazers and coming in 176th. Samantha Savinon-Rios and Alanta Lofton were able to record season best times at the race. Savinon-Rios recorded a time of 25:25.2 and Lofton came in 317th, running 25:56.1.

Carly Storie and Ellie Cardozo also recorded new personal best in the race. Carly Storie came in 346th with a time of 28:05.9 and shortly after Cardozo crossed the line at 28:43.1 in 353rd. 

The Blazers are now preparing for the post season as the Gulf South Conference XC Championship is just shy of two weeks away. They will compete for the conference championship on Nov. 6. The men will start the race off at 9 a.m. and the women will follow at 9:45 a.m.
