PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Valdosta State is 12th at the Copperhead Championship after two rounds at Innisbrook-Copperhead Golf Club, with 18 holes left to play. The Blazers posted a team total of 579 (287-292), 19 over par on the par-70 layout.

Senior Alexander Nilehn is the headliner so far, sitting tied for second individually at 4-under. He opened with a 5-under 65 and followed with a 71 to stay in the mix, five shots off the lead heading into the final round.

The rest of the Blazers have battled the Copperhead layout. Adam Waller is tied for 65th at 8-over (71-77). Jonah Nacional and William Carestam are both tied for 67th at 9-over, and each shot 77-72, improving by five strokes in round two. David Wagner is tied for 81st at 13-over (74-79). Competing as an individual, Nick Mueller sits 86th at 16-over (79-77).

The Blazers are just two shots behind 11th place and three shots behind the tie for ninth, so a strong final round could move them up the leaderboard. Final-round action tees off tomorrow.
