Blazers Head to Tennessee for GSC Matchup's versus Union and Christian Brothers

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State Blazers (7-6, 2-5 in GSC) continues Gulf South Conference play this Thursday, Jan. 8 and Jan. 10, traveling to Tennessee, to face Union (7-6, 3-4 in GSC)  in an 8:30 p.m. ET contest inside Fred DeLay Gymnasium and Christian Brothers (2-9, 1-6 in GSC) at 4 p.m. ET Saturday. 

The Blazers enter the contest looking to build momentum as they move deeper into the conference schedule. VSU has been tested through a challenging stretch of league play and will aim to put together a complete performance on the road, emphasizing defensive consistency and efficient execution on offense.

Valdosta State has relied on balanced scoring and depth throughout the season, with multiple players capable of contributing on any given night. Controlling tempo and limiting second-chance opportunities will be key focal points as the Blazers take on a Union team known for its physical style and disciplined approach.

The Blazers will look to enter these match up looking to carry momentum from their most recent outing, where they were led by a balanced effort from several key contributors. Drew Mills paced Valdosta State with 22 points, consistently attacking the basket and providing scoring stability throughout the game. Lucas Brown Jr. delivered a spark off the bench with 19 points, knocking down timely perimeter shots and pushing the tempo in transition. Inside, Blaise Wallace anchored the paint with 14 points and seven rebounds, using his physicality to score efficiently around the rim and create second-chance opportunities. Devon Rainey also provided energy off the bench with aggressive drives and perimeter shooting, helping maintain offensive rhythm when the rotation shifted. Collectively, the Blazers' top performers combined scoring efficiency with hustle plays to keep VSU competitive from start to finish.

Valdosta State will look to build on that performance against a Union team known for its physical style and disciplined execution. Controlling tempo, finishing possessions, and maintaining defensive consistency will be key as the Blazers look to put together a complete effort on the road.

Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday night and 4 p.m. Saturday as Valdosta State continues its push through the Gulf South Conference schedule.
