Blazer Men’s Golf Sits Twelfth After Two Rounds of Hurricane Invitational

ALBANY, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's golf team sits 12th following two rounds of the 2025 Hurricane Invitational on the par 72, 7,024-yard Doublegate Country Club Course hosted by Georgia Southwestern.  Blazer junior Alexander Nilehn leads the team with a 146 score on rounds of 72 and 74 as he is 20th heading into Tuesday's final round.  
 
Florida Southern leads the 15-team field with an even par 576, while Columbus State, USC Beaufort and Wingate are tied for second at 579 and the host Hurricanes are fifth at 581.  Tampa sits sixth at 587, while Carson-Newman is seventh (588).  North Georgia is eighth at 593 and Saint Leo and Barton are tied for ninth at 595.  Lincoln Memorial is 11th with a 597 score, while the Blazers sit 12th with rounds of 302 and 303 for a 605 score.  Anderson is 13th at 607, followed by Georgia College (609) and Shorter is 15th at 616.  
 
The teams are set for a Tuesday morning shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., for the final round.  Heading into the third round, Carson-Newman individual Aidan Collier leads the field with a 5-under 139 on rounds of 68 and 71.  He has a one stroke lead over Columbus State's Bernard Meyer and Florida Southern's Jack VanderSchuur who each are 4-under 140.  Tampa's Mohit Balaji is fourth (3-under 141).  There is a three-way tie for fifth between Dylan Frein of Carson-Newman, Lewis Beeden of Wingate and Nikolai Holme of USC Beaufort at 2-under 142.  Three more players are tied for eighth at 1-under and an additional four players are even par and tied for 11th.  
 
Nilehn carded eight birdies in the two rounds on Monday for the Blazers.  Senior Elad Sebbag is tied for 51st with a 152 score on rounds of 77 and 75.  Junior William Carestam sits tied for 63rd with a 155 score on rounds of 77 and 78.  Senior Joshua Burki is tied for 71st with a 157 score on rounds of 81 and 76, while junior Nick Mueller is tied for 75th at 158 on rounds of 76 and 82.   Playing as an individual, freshman Jimmy Cohen is 81st with a 165 score on rounds of 77 and 88.
