Harraway, Justice and Whalen Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State women's basketball senior Jacey Justice, along with sophomore Erin Whalen and men's basketball senior Cobey Harraway were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Teams, announced this week.
 
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
 
Justice, a native of Peebles, Ohio, finished the season averaging 3.8 points per game and 1.2 rebounds per game.  She went 37 of 109 from the field (.339) and 18 of 69 from distance (.261), while making 17 free throws and pulling down 34 total rebounds.  Justice averaged 24.6 minutes per game for the season playing in 29 games with 24 starts.  She earned GSC Academic Honor Roll accolades each of the last two seasons at VSU after transferring from Western Carolina.  
 
Whalen, a Cumming, Ga., native, had an outstanding sophomore campaign for the red and black as she finished second on the team in scoring at 10.7 points per game and led the team averaging 8.7 rebounds per game.  Whalen earned second team All-Gulf South Conference honors.  Whalen leads the GSC in total rebounds with 251, while she is second in the league in rebounds per game (8.7) and third in steals (58).  She earned GSC Player of the Week honors this season and had 18 games in double figures with nine double-doubles to lead the team.  Whalen scored a career-high 24 points against Georgia Southwestern (11/21) and had a career-high 16 rebounds against Auburn Montgomery (2/27).  She has earned GSC Academic Honor Roll honors twice.  
 
Harraway, a native of Seattle, Wash., and transfer this season from North Carolina Central, helped lead VSU to the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2021.  Harraway played in 29 games with 25 starts averaging 6.8 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game.  he went 74 of 148 from the field (.500), while knocking down ten triples and went 40 of 61 from the line (.656).  He had eight games in double figures this season with a season-high 17 points against Auburn Montgomery (1/18).
