Blazers Finish Tenth at Bobcat Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's golf team fired a final round 293 Tuesday to finish tent at the 2025 Bobcat Invitational at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.  The Blazers finished with an 873 score on rounds of 298, 282, 293. 
 
No. 2 North Georgia won the 15-team tournament with an 841 score on rounds of 283, ,282 and 276.  No. 3 West Georgia finished second at 843, followed by No. 8 Lee at 849.  No. 9 USC Aiken was fourth at 853, followed by No. 13 Columbus State at 858 to round out the top five.  No. 20 Nova Southeastern finished sixth at 860, followed by No. 21 Lander (863), No. 36 Saint Leo (866), while No. 10 Georgia Southwestern finished ninth at 869, followed by the No. 41 Blazers at 873 for tenth.
 
Blazer sophomore Aleander Nilehn entered Tuesday as the clubhouse leader and fired a final round 73 to finish tied for fourth.  UWF's TJ Thompson carded a final round 68 to win medalist honors at 4-under 206.  USC Aiken's Erik Olin finished second with a 2-under 208 tying with Lander's Victor Larsson for second.  Nilehn finished tied for fourth with USC Aiken's Nick Goellner who fired a final round 65 to move up 17 spot to tie for fourth.
 
For the Blazers following Nilehn, senior Chase Long finished tied for 34th with a 218 score on rounds of 75, 71 and 72.  Sophomore Adam Waller tied for 49th with a 223 score on rounds of 76, 71 and 76.  Senior Parker Highsmith tied for 60th with a 227 score on rounds of 78, 73 and 76, while senior Brandon Cho tied for 63rd with a 230 score on rounds of 83, 75 and 72.
 
VSU returns home to prepare for the Argo Invitational, scheduled for Apr. 7-8 in Pensacola, Fla., at Pensacola Country Club.
