NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Valdosta State Lady Blazers (3-5, 1-2 Gulf South Conference) will travel to the Volunteer State this weekend to take on Trevecca Nazarene (5-3, 2-2 GSC) and Lee (5-3, 2-2 GSC). The road trip will begin in Nashville on Thursday when VSU takes on Trevecca at 6:30 p.m. ET and concludes in Cleveland, Tenn. when they battle Lee on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.

The Lady Blazers enter the week on a two-game skid after close losses to UAH and West Florida. The team rallied late in both games but ultimately fell short in the final period of each. Sophomore Amaya Broadus put together a standout performance at UWF with a career-high and GSC season high 18 rebounds. Senior Aryana Hicks led the way in assists in both contests, totaling seven over the stretch. Junior Erin Whalen led the team in scoring at UWF with 15 points.

Trevecca Nazarene enters Thursday's game having dropped back-to-back contests to GSC opponents. The Trojans dropped both games of last week's road trip, taking a loss to UAH before dropping another game to West Alabama. Senior forward Cheyenne Trotter has been a weapon for the Trojan offense and crucial on the glass this season, averaging team highs with 16.3 points and 11.4 rebounds. Junior guard Jordan Gillies has been a defensive anchor and playmaker on offense, leading the team in assists, steals, and blocks with totals of 34, 22, and 10 of each, respectively.

The Trojans enter their second year as a member of the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Blazers won both matchups last season to take a 2-0 lead in the all-time series. VSU will aim to take a 3-0 lead in the series while Trevecca searches for its first win.

The Lady Flames of Lee University enter the week on a two-game skid of their own, having also lost to UAH and West Alabama on the road. Lee is led in scoring and rebounding by the same player in graduate forward Anna Muhonen. Muhonen leads the team with 15.1 PPG and 8.9 RPG on the season. Her 15 blocks also lead the team. Sophomore guard Libby Privett follows closely in scoring with 14.9 points per contest and holds a team high with 18 assists so far this season. Junior guard Kara Williams paces the Lady Flames with 14 steals on the year.

The Lady Blazers and Lady Flames are dead-even in their historical series dating back to 2013, each side winning and losing 16 times. The teams split last season's series 1-1 with wins at home and losses on the road.

Both Trevecca and Lee had won five of six contests to open the year before their losses to UAH and West Alabama last week. The Lady Blazers earned a win at home over West Alabama on Dec. 4th but joined this week's opponents in losing to UAH.

The Lady Blazers will return to the Complex after this week's road trip to host Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 29th at 1 p.m.
