VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State Athletics was notified by another Gulf South Conference institution on November 7, 2025, of an ineligible football student-athlete's participation at VSU.  Upon internal review, VSU found the student-athlete had been declared eligible in Fall 2024 for the two remaining seasons. This decision was based upon all available information including the completed NCAA tracer submitted by the student's previous institution.
 
Further inquiry determined the former NCAA Compliance Officer at the student's previous institution inaccurately completed the student athlete's tracer; an error in which the previous institution admitted. Upon discovering the inaccuracy of the NCAA tracer, VSU immediately notified the NCAA and GSC Conference office of these findings.
 
The VSU athletic department, compliance, and coaches met all NCAA and GSC rules, standards, and best practices.
