Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State volleyball team (10-12, 9-4 Gulf South Conference) is set to travel to take on three GSC opponents this week. First, the Blazers take on No. 16 West Florida (19-3, 12-0 GSC) in Pensacola on Tuesday, Oct. 28
th at 7 p.m. ET. The Blazers then head to Alabama over the weekend where they will battle with Montevallo (9-14, 6-7 GSC) on Friday, Oct. 31st at 7 p.m. ET. The team will wrap up the weekend on Saturday in Huntsville when they take on UAH (18-4, 10-3 GSC) at 3 p.m. ET.
The Blazers went 2-1 last week, posting a pair of wins at the Complex over Christian Brothers and Union after dropping a match on Tuesday at AUM. Junior
Asia Montagnani led VSU in kills last week, knocking down 37 kills over three matches at a .354 clip. Senior
Sabrina Oncins was second in kills with 28 at a .230 clip. Sophomore
Eva LaRochelle sent down 20. Montagnani led the team in points with 39.0 over the three matches.
Sophomore
Avery Mullins led the team in assists in all three matches. Mullins notched 97 assists at a rate of 9.70 per set. Her 575 assists lead the team and are the fourth most by any player in the GSC. Mullins added ten kills, three service aces, 29 digs, and three total blocks over the week.
Junior
Eimy Negron Domenech, the reigning GSC Defensive Player of the Week, led the team defensively with 63 digs at a rate of 6.30 per set. Her 310 digs this season are a team-high total. Negron Domenech added 12 assists and two service aces. Senior
Ava Young sent down 12 total blocks over the week without recording an error. Her 54.0 total blocks lead the team. Young also put away 13 kills over the week.
No. 16 West Florida rides a 12-match winning streak into Tuesday's contest with the Blazers. The Argos have yet to lose in GSC play or to an unranked opponent. Kumara Flanagain (212) and Ana Colon (168) are both in the top ten in the conference in kills (min. 2.0 per set). Gabi Moulton leads the GSC with 10.45 assists per set. Magdalena Vongkasemsiri is the second-most efficient blocker in the league, averaging 1.19 per set. Madalyn Mire is the most efficient libero in the GSC, posting 5.16 digs per set this season.
The Blazers last met the Argos on Sept. 23
rd at the Complex when UWF claimed a four-set victory. UWF holds a 38-6 all-time advantage in the series.
Valdosta State will take on Montevallo for the second time this season on Halloween. The Falcons have dropped three consecutive contests leading into Friday's match in Alabama. Danielle Greene has put down 202 kills for the Falcons at a .296 clip, the ninth-highest rate in the conference. Greene also holds a commanding lead over the rest of the conference with 124 total blocks. No other player in the GSC has recorded 100. Blakeley Robbins 520 assists are the fifth-most in the GSC. Ava Wind's 415 digs are the second most in the league.
Montevallo claimed a four-set victory earlier this season when the Falcons came to the Complex. The Falcons hold a 10-3 advantage in the all-time series, but the sides have split the last two contests. The Blazers will look for their fourth win in the all-time series on Halloween.
The UAH Chargers are riding an eight-match winning streak into the week. The Chargers will host UWF on Halloween before shifting their focus to VSU on Saturday. Caroline Moyer (278) and Zoe Smith (252) are both top ten in the GSC in kills to this point in the season. Cooper Garrett is sixth in the league in assists. Alex McGeehan and Mary Grace Bundrant are in the top five in the conference in total blocks, averaging 1.08 and 1.06 respectively. Sydney Durban's 4.36 digs per set is the fifth-highest rate in the GSC.
The sides last met earlier this year at the Complex where UAH claimed a win. The Blazers and Chargers have split their last six contests evenly, 3-3.

The Blazers return to the Complex next weekend for their last two home matches of the regular season. The team will host West Alabama on Friday, Nov. 7
th at 6 p.m. and Mississippi College on Saturday at 12 p.m.
