VALDOSTA, Ga. – Fresh off a thrilling 35-24 victory over visiting North Greenville on Saturday, Valdosta State senior defensive lineman Mark Robinson and freshman running back/return specialist Shawn Paschall earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday.

Robinson had a record-setting game, earning Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time, while Paschall earned both Special Teams and Freshman of the Week accolades.  The Memphis, Tenn., native, Robinson, had a standout performance helping VSU snap a three-game skid as he had nine total tackles and five solo stops, four tackles for loss for 18 yards, four sacks for 18 yards, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery along with one hurry.

VSU sacked NGU quarterback Dylan Ramirez seven times as a team, while Robinson's four sacks tied the Bazemore-Hyder Stadium record for the third time as the last was Tyler Josey of VSU on Nov. 1, 2012, versus Texas A&M-Kingsville.  Robinson's four sacks also tied for the most in program history in a single game for the third time and first since 1997.  It also tied for fourth-most all-time in Gulf South Conference history.

Robinson shares the honor with Delta State's Tavian Moore.  This marked the first Defensive Player of the Week honor for the Blazers this season.

This season, Robinson has 25 total tackles for the season with 4.5 tackles for loss for 19 yards, four sacks for 18 yards, three hurries, the one fumble recovery and the one forced fumble in five games played.

Paschall earned both GSC Freshman of the Week honors and Special Teams Player of the Week.  This marks Paschall's second Freshman of the Week honors and the first for Special Teams.  The Deerfield Beach, Fla., native, returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown on special teams and finished with five carries for 11 yards on the ground in a thrilling 35-24 win over North Greenville on Homecoming as the Blazers snapped a three-game skid.  Paschall's kick return came just seconds after NGU had pulled within 14-10 in the second quarter giving VSU a 21-10 lead.  It marks the longest kickoff return for the Blazers since 2023 and the longest kickoff return in the GSC this season.  He had five carries for 11 yards as a running back in the game.

For the season, Paschall has 15 carries for 73 yards and two rushing touchdowns, while he has three kickoff returns for 130 yards and a touchdown.

Paschall joins freshman teammates Matt Rolader and Ostin Perkins who earned Freshman of the Week honors so far this season, while Paschall joins junior teammate Devin Walter and Rolader as Special Teams Player of the Week.
