VALDOSTA, Ga. – Fresh off two huge victories, the Valdosta State women's soccer team returns to the road this week as it travels to Christian Brothers and Union for the final road trip of the regular season.

The Blazers face CBU in Memphis, Tenn., on Friday evening at 6 p.m. ET and then head East to Jackson, Tenn., to battle Union on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.  Fans can access links to live stats and audio/video streaming of the matches at vstateblazers.com on the women's soccer schedule page.

VSU (3-7-4, 1-6-1 GSC) snapped a four-match skid with a thrilling 7-0 win over Auburn Montgomery last Saturday and then won 3-1 over Eckerd on Monday.  The Blazers notched ten goals in the two matches combined as they had scored five goals in the first 12 matches overall.  Sophomore Maria Rojas scored three goals in the two matches with two scores and the game winner against Eckerd.

This season, Rojas leads the team with four goals scored and one assist for nine points.  She has 30 shots (.133) with 17 on target (.567) and the one game winner.  Junior Taylor Youmans is tied with Rojas in scoring with nine points on three goals and three assists.  She has 26 shots (.115) with 16 on frame (.615) and one game winner.  Junior Kaitlyn Scherer is third in scoring with six points on two goals and two assists.  She has 15 shots (.133) with 10 on goal (.667) and also has one game winner.

In looking at the Gulf South Conference standings, the Blazers are within striking distance of qualifying for the GSC postseason tournament.  With four matches remaining, winning out would definitely put the team in a position to qualify.  They would need help from other teams above them losing as well.  Following the two matches this weekend, VSU returns home to host Delta State and Mississippi College next week to conclude the regular season.

Christian Brothers enters the match with a 2-10-1 record overall and an 0-8 record in league play.  The Lady Bucs have dropped four-straight matches.  CBU won by forfeit over Central Baptist College in Conway, Ark., on Oct. 6, but hasn't won a completed match since a 3-0 win over Ouachita Baptist on Sept. 13 (0-8-0).  This season, Mackenzie Allen and Madison Woolridge lead the team with two goals each.  Woolridge has a team-high 13 shots and eight on frame and one game winner.  Elisa Cruz leads the team with two assists.  In goal, Kaylee Allen has a 2.55 GAA in 919:02 minutes allowing 26 goals and has 42 saves with one shutout and faced 133 shots.

VSU leads the all-time series with CBU 9-4-1 and has won the last two meetings, both in Valdosta in 2023 (2-1) and 2024 (4-0).  The Blazers have won four of the last six overall, and are 3-3 against CBU all-time in Memphis.  CBU won the last meeting in Memphis on Oct. 9, 2022, 2-1.

Union enters with a 3-5-3 record overall and a 2-5-1 mark in league play as the Lady Bulldogs are tied with Trevecca Nazarene for ninth in the league standings with seven points – one full match ahead of VSU (4 points).  Union also has work to do to qualify for the postseason tournament as it is four points behind Mississippi College who currently is eighth in the standings with 11 points.

For the Lady Bulldogs this season, they enter on the heels of a three-match skid and have not scored since a 1-0 win over UAH on Oct. 10, for a span of 276:48 minutes.  The Lady Bulldogs entertain Auburn Montgomery on Friday, before VSU visits on Sunday.  This season, Lucia Garcia leads the team with four goals and eight points.  She has 24 shots for second on the team (.167) and 15 on target (.625) also good for second on the team.  Garcia has one game winner, while Paige Blackburn has two goals and one assist for five points and second on the team in scoring.  Blackburn leads the team with two game winners.  Lucia Revuelto leads the team with 39 shots and 23 on goal for the season, while leading the team with five assists.

In goal, the Lady Bulldogs have used three goalkeepers.  Dehlia Placie has logged 665:52 minutes in nine matches with eight starts, allowing 11 goals (1.49 GAA) with 34 saves and faced 108 shots, while registering two shutouts and one combined shutout.  Anita Lopez Rodriguez has played 300:48 minutes, surrendering three goals with 18 saves, along with one shutout and one combined shutout.
