Valdosta State Volleyball junior Eimy Negron Domenech was named Gulf South Conference Defensive player of the week this week. Negron Domenech, a first-year Blazer who transferred from Hillsborough CC, started two matches at libero and led the Blazers to a 2-0 record with victories over Trevecca Nazarene and Lee University. 

Negron Domenech recorded 58 digs over the two matches while averaging 6.44 digs per set. She posted a career-high 36 digs at a pace of 7.2 per set in VSU's victory over Trevecca Nazarene. Negron Domench added five kills, two service aces, and an assist throughout last weekend's action.

This marks her first GSC weekly honor and the first awarded to a member of the volleyball team in 2025.
