Carestam Hits Hole-in-One at Fripp Island to Bermuda Invitational Monday

BEUFORT, S.C. – Valdosta State junior William Carestam hit a hole-in-one highlighting the first two rounds of the Fripp Island to Bermuda Invitational Monday for the Blazer men's golf team.  VSU carded rounds of 305 and 306 for a 611 score through 36-holes.
 
Carestam, a native of Gothemburg, Sweden, hit the perfect shot on the No. 11, 178-yard par 3 hole for the only hole-in-one for the day.  Carestam finished the 36-holes with a 146 score on the par 72, 6,502-yard Fripp Island Ocean Point Golf Course as he enters the final round tied for 26th.  
 
Georgia Southwestern leads the 15-team field with a 565 score on rounds of 282 and 283, while Lee is second one stroke back at 566.  Columbus State sits third at 573, followed by Rollins at 580 and Catawba is fifth at 582. 
 
Florida Southern sits sixth (583), followed by a tie for seventh between St. Mary's (Texas) and Lincoln Memorial (584), while USC Beaufort is ninth at 588 and West Florida sits tenth at 589.  Nova Southeastern is 11th (590), followed by North Georgia (593), Lenoir-Rhyne (595), Barry (604) and VSU (611).  
 
Individually, Oscar Hammar of Georgia Southwestern leads the field with an 8-under 136 on rounds of 67 and 69.  The winner of the tournament will receive a start in the PGA Tour Buttfield Bermuda Championship, Nov. 13-16, 2025.  Lincoln Memorial's Harry Dickens sits second at 6-under 138, followed by Columbus State's Bernard Meyer at 4-under 140.  In all, 13 players are under par heading into the final round and an additional five are even par.
 
Blazer senior Elad Sebbag is tied for 36th with a 148 score on rounds of 70 and 78, while freshman Kaleb Shiver is 72nd with a 159 score on rounds of 78 and 81 in his first collegiate tournament.  Junior Alexander Nilehn sits tied for 73rd as he opened with an 85 and closed with a 75 for a 160 score.  Junior Adam Waller is 75th with a 164 score on rounds of 85 and 79.  The Blazers will conclude the tournament Tuesday beginning at 8:45 a.m. off the No. 10 hole playing with Lenoir-Rhyne and Barry.
