VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State freshman running back
Shawn Paschall was named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This is Paschall's first weekly honor of the season and he is the third different Blazer to earn Freshman of the Week honors this season.
Paschall, a native of Deerfield Beach, Fla., scored two touchdowns in the Blazers 38-14 loss Saturday at Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) foe The Citadel. He had ten carries for 62 yards to lead the team on the ground in his first collegiate game of accumulating stats. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry and had a long rush of 13 yards. He scored from five yards out with 30 seconds remaining in the second quarter and then scored on a 4
th and goal from the ten with 1:09 remaining in the game.
He joins
Ostin Perkins who was named GSC Freshman of the Week last week, and
Matt Rolader who earned the honor following the season-opening victory on Aug. 30, against Clark Atlanta in Birmingham, Ala.
The Blazers have their second bye week of the season this week, but return to action with three-straight home games beginning Oct. 25 at 3 p.m., at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium versus North Greenville for Homecoming 2025.
