VALDOSTA, Ga. – Currently riding a five-game winning streak, the Valdosta State men's basketball team jumped to No. 19 in the weekly NABC Men's Basketball Rankings. The Blazers were ranked 25th last week in the poll and moved up six spots this week. VSU defeated Mississippi College and Delta State this past weekend while averaging 98 points as a team to sweep the road trip.
Nova Southeastern continues to sit atop the rankings, as the Sharks received all 16 first place votes as they are currently one of four teams to remain unbeaten. Washburn, Daemen, and Minot State are the other three unbeaten as they round out the top four. Fellow GSC member Alabama Huntsville is in sixth as they are the only other team in the GSC to be ranked or receiving votes. To view the full rankings,

Head Coach
Mike Helfer is no stranger to these rankings, as he has led the Blazers to eight NCAA Tournament appearances over his 20 years in Titletown. Helfer has accumulated a career record of 372-193 at VSU with seven GSC regular season titles.
Valdosta State will put their streak to the test this weekend, as they host a pair of teams from the Volunteer State with Union on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. ET followed by Christian Brothers on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 4 p.m. ET.
