Maria Rojas scored her second goal of the season on a penalty kick.
The teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half with a combined four shots through the first 45 minutes. The Falcons (3-1-1, 2-0 GSC) out shot the Blazers 10-4 in the second half and 13-5 in the match, including 7-3 in shots on goal. UM began the scoring with a goal from Marica Miljanovic and an assist from Rilee Bradbury at the 64:46 mark. Under three minutes later, the Blazers were called for a foul in the box as Katelynn Kott scored the penalty kick and a 2-0 lead at the 67:29 mark.
Rojas returned the favor at the 76:58 mark with a penalty kick goal to get the Blazers on the board, but UM added the insurance goal at the 83:24 mark by Isabel Dillehay for her third goal of the season and an assist from Bear Bradbury.
Individually, Rojas had a team-high two shots with one on target and the PK goal for the second PK goal of the season for the Blazers (2/3). Blazer senior
Emma Pruett had four saves in the contest as the Blazers fell to 3-3 on the year and 0-1 in league play.
VSU now will turn its attention to GSC-newcomer Trevecca Nazarene and Lee next week with the match versus Trevecca Nazarene at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the VSU Soccer Complex and will welcome Lee on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.
