VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State women's soccer freshman defender
Sydney Foy was named Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. This is her first weekly honor of her career and the first for the Blazers this season.
Foy was instrumental in the Blazers' 2-0 start this season helping lead VSU to a pair of shutouts over Middle Georgia (3-0) and at North Greenville (1-0). Foy, a native of Suwannee, Ga., finished playing all 180 minutes at center back and had one shot for the week.
The Blazers have two matches this week as they travel to No. 15 for a Wednesday match at 6 p.m. in Daytona Beach, Fla., before returning home to host Georgia College on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the VSU Soccer Complex.
