VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Valdosta State volleyball team recently held an alumni event that saw various Blazer volleyball alumni from teams dating all the way back to the 70s return to Valdosta State. The team is also set to embark on a week-long trip to Costa Rica in July of 2024, announced by Head Coach Kaleigh Zoucha.
 
Last weekend, the VSU volleyball team hosted a volleyball alumni event that welcomed 20 former Blazer volleyball players back to Valdosta State. The alumni and their families were given a tour around campus, participated in a social dinner, and even competed in volleyball matches at The Complex. The event was enjoyed by all that attended including some alumni that were on the founding VSU volleyball team from the 70s.
 
Later this summer, the VSU volleyball team is set to go on a trip to Costa Rica. The Blazers will visit La Fortuna, San Jose, and Jaco.  The trip will feature a handful of matches against local teams, in addition to community outreach activities.

The Blazers will depart from Valdosta on July 21 and return on July 28.

The Blazer volleyball team will not only compete against the Costa Rica National Team but engage in community engagement across the country. The Blazers will have an opportunity to make a lasting impact, both on and off the volleyball court while representing Valdosta State University.

Volleyball has a rich and memorable history in Costa Rica, dating back to the late 1800s. The Costa Rica women's volleyball team has an astonishing record: It has never lost a Central America Cup championship that it contested in the past 41 years.
