MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Just six days after ending the regular season with a 4-2 victory over Lee, the No. 25 Blazer women's tennis team downed Lee Saturday 4-0 in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 Gulf South Conference Championship.
The Blazers, who improved to 11-11 on the year and are the two-seed in the conference tournament, battle third-seeded Auburn Montgomery at 3:30 p.m. ET at Lagoon Park. VSU upset then-No. 5 AUM, 5-2 in Valdosta on Apr. 10 during the regular season. Lee finished the season at 9-7 following the loss Saturday.

Altmaier won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 singles spot for a 2-0 lead, while Pezo handed Duarte a 6-0, 6-2 setback at No. 5 for a 3-0 lead and Poborilova made quick work of Kanna Kobayakawa 6-1, 6-2, to clinch the match. Lee won the first set in each of the three remaining matches. VSU improved to 47-29 all-time in the GSC Championship following the victory.
