AUM responded with a run on a double and single to cut the Blazers' lead in half in the top of the second, 2-1. However, the Warhawks ended up evening the game at 2-2 following an RBI single in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the third, Valdosta State was put in a good position quickly as a base hit and a pair of walks loaded the bases with just one out. Just in the nick of time, junior
Carly Bogart cracked a single to deep left field to give the Blazers back the one-run lead, 3-2. However, VSU was not done scoring in the inning as the white-hot Gano cranked a no-doubter grand slam to deep center field, putting the Blazers up 7-2 by the end of the third.
