VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's basketball team will hit the road for the first time this season, as the Blazers will take on Morehouse College on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in Atlanta. The Blazers enter the game with a 3-1 record while the Maroon Tigers stand at 1-2.

VSU and MC played back eight days ago on Nov. 12, where the Maroon Tigers left Titletown with an 84-80 win in a closely contested contest. Senior
Carlos Hart scored a game high 25 points, as the Miami native went 6-9 from the floor and 13-18 from the line. Fellow senior guard
Braxton Williams also had a 20-piece as the returner scored 22 points on 9-17 from the floor and 4-7 from distance. For the Maroon Tigers, they were led in scoring Josiah Lawson, who scored 20 points on 8-13 from the floor. Morehouse College outrebounded Valdosta State by 13 as they held a 46-33 advantage for the night.

Mike Helfer picked up his 550
th career win, as he is sixth all-time in GSC history in wins and second among active coaches. Coach Helfer's offense has been lethal this season, as VSU is currently ranked seventh in the nation in first in the GSC in points per game with the Blazers scoring 99.8. Helfer's team is playing as fast as possible this season, as they are running around forcing steals, and getting out in transition. Fastbreak points have been the story, as they are ranked second nationally in transition as they are scoring 36.25 per game. They are also ranked second nationally in steals, turnover margin, and turnovers forced per game.
Individually,
Braxton Williams has been leading the team in scoring as the Thomasville, Ala. native is averaging 21.3 points per game on a shooting clip of .460/.464./.737.
Carlos Hart is close behind him in scoring as he guard is averaging 19.5 points per game while shooting .531 from the floor and .808 from the charity stripe. Hart has been aggressive all year, as the newcomer is currently tied for first in free throws attempts nationwide across DI, II, and III with 52 total attempts in just four games. Junior
Drew Mills had his best game of the season on Tuesday night's victory over Middle Georgia, as the forward scored 23 points in 24 minutes of action on 11-13 from the floor while he also grabbed six rebounds.
As for Morehouse College, they will be playing Valdosta State nine days of rest after previously playing VSU in Valdosta. The Maroon Tigers are led in scoring by JerMontae Hill, who is averaging 16.0 points per game after previously scoring 13 versus the Blazers last week on 7-10 from the free throw line while recording three steals. Morehouse College big man Matthew Coffey was dominant on glass in the last matchup versus the Blazers, as the Detroit native hauled in 12 rebounds with six of them being offensive enroute to 15 points on 7-9 from the floor.
Following Thursday night's matchup with the Maroon Tigers, the Blazers will host Thomas University on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. before they hit the road to open GSC play versus West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville on the weekend on December 5.
