CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Valdosta State women's soccer season came to an end Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 Gulf South Conference Championship with a 5-1 loss at Lee.
The Blazers finished the season with an 8-7-3 record overall and went 5-4-3 in GSC play, while Lee improved to 7-4-6 overall after going 6-2-4 in league play. The teams met this past Wednesday in a 1-1 draw in Valdosta.

Kaitlyn Scherer scored her second goal of the season in the match Sunday pulling VSU within 2-1 in the 24
th minute on an assist from senior
Molly Wooldridge, but the Lady Flames would score one more goal in the first half and add two more in the second, exactly 2:16 minutes a part for the 5-1 margin. Lee's Kassidy Kellett scored two goals in the match, one in the sixth minute and one in the 62
nd as she scored Lee's goal in the match Wednesday to level the match in the 69
th minute four days ago.
VSU finished Sunday's match with five shots and two on frame as junior
Claire Timberlake played the first half at keeper with three saves, while sophomore
Tori Vliet played the final 45 minutes. Scherer had two shots and one on target with the goal. Lee finished with 20 shots and eight on frame as Kellett finished with two goals with four shots. Her three goals this season all came against VSU in the last two matches.
Despite the loss, the Blazers finished the season 5-2-2 after starting 3-5-1 under eighth-year head coach
Stephen Andrew. VSU had eight seniors in 2024 and the class included;

Jocelyn Oballe,
Emma Pruett,
