Lady Blazers Announce 2024-25 Schedule

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The defending Gulf South Conference Champion Valdosta State Lady Blazer basketball announced its 2024-25 schedule on Tuesday. The Lady Blazers will have 13 regular season contests at The Complex and a total of 28 regular season games.

"We are excited to release our schedule for the upcoming season," new Lady Blazer head coach Chandler Merkerson said. "Each game gives us a new opportunity to showcase the work that we've put in. We scheduled tough non-conference opponents who will prepare us to be competitive in league play. We are looking forward to seeing our fans back in The Complex as we strive to fuel the flame together."

The Lady Blazers will open the season on the road as they head to Saint Petersburg, Fla., to compete in the annual GSC/SSC Regional Crossover, hosted by Eckerd College. There, VSU will play both Palm Beach Atlantic University and the host Tritons, Nov. 8-9. Valdosta State will then return home to The Complex, where it will face Brewton-Parker on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. for the home opener. The Lady Blazers then will host Lynn on Nov. 18, before trips to Georgia Southwestern (Nov. 21) and Clayton State (Nov. 26) round out the first month of the season. Â

VSU opens GSC play with a trip to Alabama to face-off with West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville on Dec. 5 and Dec. 7, respectively, before returning home to host West Florida (Dec. 15), GSC newcomer Trevecca Nazarene (Dec. 19) and Lee (Dec. 21) prior to the Christmas holiday. Â

January begins with a trip to the Magnolia State at Mississippi College (Jan. 2) and at Delta State (Jan. 4), before home games against Union (Jan. 9) and Christian Brothers (Jan. 11). VSU then returns to Alabama for games at Montevallo (Jan. 16) and Auburn Montgomery (Jan. 18), before hosting Alabama Huntsville (Jan. 23) and West Alabama (Jan. 25) for Hall of Fame Weekend. Â

The final month of the season of the regular season begins with three-straight road games at West Florida (Feb. 1), Lee (Feb. 6) and Trevecca Nazarene (Feb. 8). VSU then returns home to host Delta State (Feb.13) and Mississippi College (Feb. 15), followed by trips to Christian Brothers (Feb. 20) and Union (Feb. 22), while closing out the regular season at The Complex with games versus Auburn Montgomery (Feb. 27) and Montevallo (Mar. 1) for Senior Day. Â

The GSC Championship is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Mar. 4 on campus sites and then. the semifinals and the championship are set for Mar. 8-9 in Birmingham, Ala. The NCAA postseason regional begins Mar. 14-17 at the top regional seed, while the 2025 Elite Eight is scheduled for Mar. 24-28 in Pittsburgh, Pa.Â

The Lady Blazers return five players from last year's roster, as
India Jordan,
Victoria Ikenasio,
Jacey Justice,
Erin Whalen and
Courtney Stothard will all look to continue to make an impact. Merkerson welcomes eight new players to Titletown, as she has reloaded the roster and is ready to compete for another GSC Championship.
