VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Valdosta State volleyball claimed their second straight win at The Complex on Saturday afternoon, defeating West Alabama in three sets at The Complex, 3-0. With the win, the Blazers improved to 9-7 overall with a 3-3 mark in the Gulf South Conference while the Tigers fell to 2-16 on the year with a 0-8 mark in the conference.

First Set:
Riding the momentum of Friday night's win over Mississippi College, Valdosta State rushed out to a 7-2 in the first set of Saturday afternoon's match against West Alabama. The Blazer offense continued to pour it on, taking a 9-5 lead before erupting for seven uncontested points to take a double-digit lead in a flash, 15-5. Keeping their 10-point lead secure at 19-9, the Blazers tallied four-straight points including back-to-back service aces from sophomore
Lily Glover to come within two of a set one victory, 23-9. VSU allowed just three more UWA points before a Tiger service error ended the set in favor of the Blazers, 25-12.

Second Set:
Valdosta State looked to replicate its hot start in the first set to the second, racing out to a 7-3 lead before West Alabama answered back with a 6-2 run to knot the frame up at 9-9. Despite the Tigers tying up the set, the Blazers were undeterred, going on a 9-3 run, kick-started by a dominant kill from senior
Mackenzie Murray, to take a six-point lead in the blink of an eye, 18-12. With the set well into Valdosta State's control, the Blazers went on a quick 6-3, capped off by a kill from senior
Christina Pettigrew to hold the match point at 24-15. UWA managed to tally three-straight points before Murray ended the set on a decisive kill, 25-18.

Third Set:
In the third set, the Blazers had their best start of the afternoon, going up 10-2 in a flash capped off by back-to-back service aces from Glover. The Tigers answered back with a 3-0 run to cut the Valdosta State lead to 10-5 before the Blazers pieced together an impressive 5-0 run to take a 10-point lead, 15-5. Later in the set with VSU leading 21-12, West Alabama continued to battle, going on a five-point run to come within striking distance of the Valdosta State lead, 21-17. Following a VSU timeout, the Blazers composed themselves going on a 4-1 run to cap off the set and take their second-straight victory of the weekend, 25-18.
