The Blazer offense responded swiftly, marching down the field at will. On a third-and-16, Edwards completed a massive 48-yard pass to junior
Council Allen to flip the field. A few plays later and Edwards delivered once again, hitting Smith for a 17-yard touchdown pass to put the Blazers up by one, 7-6 with 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter.
The Blazer defense held up on the next Keiser drive, forcing a quick three-and-out to bring the Valdosta State offense back out on the field. In the blink of an eye, the Blazers scored once again in just three plays as Edwards completed his second touchdown pass of the night. This time it was sophomore
Ted Hurst who made the grab on a 37-yard pass to the end zone, giving VSU the lead, 14-6 with 6:50 left to play in the first.
Early in the second quarter, the Blazers fumbled at the Keiser 28 following a big gain by the offense as the Seahawks took over on their own 15-yard line. Later in the third quarter, the Blazers fumbled, once again, as Keiser recovered the ball at the VSU 45. The Seahawks then drove their way down the field on 45-straight rushing yards from Meizinger and Wendol Philord as Meizinger rushed into the end zone, cutting into the Blazer lead. However, VSU blocked the extra point attempt, resulting in a 28-19 lead for Valdosta State.
The Blazers responded almost immediately as Williams returned the Keiser kick to the KU 31 for 60 yards, putting the VSU offense in excellent field position. In just three plays, Edwards hit redshirt-freshman

In what looked like a uncatchable throw, Veasley threw a pass out of the back of the end zone which resulted in a pass interference call on the Blazers, putting the Seahawks first-and-goal on the VSU 2. Veasley then rushed for a loss of one which the Valdosta State coaching staff challenged as a fumble after the ball popped out at the end of the play. However, the call stood and Veasley rushed into the end zone on the next play. The Blazer special teams then stopped a two-point conversion to make the Blazer lead 35-25 with 13:38 remaining in the game.
