Mack and Kohoutkova Named GSC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Champion Scholar-Athletes

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Valdosta State men's tennis junior Luca Mack and women's tennis junior Natalie Kohoutkova were recognized as the 2023 GSC Champions Scholar-athletes for men's and women's tennis, respectively.  
 
Kohoutkova, a native of the Czech Republic, earned her first Champion Scholar-Athlete Award with a 4.0 grade-point average and majoring in interdisciplinary studied.  She is the second Blazer women's tennis player to earn the prestigious honor, following 2021 recipient Birte Langenstein.  
 
Mack, a native of Emmendingen, Germany, also earned his first Champion Scholar-Athlete Award, while majoring in international business with posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.  The 2023 GSC Men's Tennis Player of the Year became the school's first men's tennis student-athlete to be recognized.  
 
Former Blazer men's golfer Wesley Hanson earned the honor twice.  
 
This is the fourth year that the Gulf South Conference has presented the Champion Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is given out at the final site of each GSC Championship event and awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA among teams participating. Each student-athlete GPA is based on the most recently completed term, and the individual must have a minimum of 48 credit hours to be eligible for the award. Student-athletes are only eligible to win the award once per academic year.
