MONTGOMERY, Ala. - In a makeup match from earlier in the season due to inclement weather, the Valdosta State women's tennis team downed Christian Brothers 6-1 Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, Ala.
The Blazers improved to 5-6 on the year and 4-2 in Gulf South Conference play, while CBU fell to 9-7 overall and 3-7 in league play. VSU opened the match, winning all three doubles matches to earn the team point. Freshman

Natalie Kohoutkova easily handled Viktoria Grigoreva and Ellie Hire at No. 3, 6-2, while junior
Olivia Pezo and freshman
Kayla Greco won 6-2 at No. 2 over Gabriela Marin and Beatriz Costa and freshman
Jorja Reynolds and sophomore
Anastasiia Vorobiova won 6-4 at the top spot over Fleur Verkuijl and Chelsea Dzenga.
Pezo put VSU up 2-0 with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Dzenga, while Greco downed Verkujl 6,-0, 6-1 at No. 3 for a 3-0 lead and clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win by Reynolds at No. 5 over Hire. Kohoutkova rallied at the top spot after losing the first set to Costa, 6-4, for a 6-3 victory, but Costa finished with a 6-2 win for CBU's lone victory. Altmaier won in three sets at No. 6 as the player split the first two sets with Altmaier winning in the super tiebreaker 11-9.
